DOWA Holds Annual GB Meeting, Colourful Mushaira & 3-Year Elections; Patron-in-Chief Dr. Muhibullah Administers Oath to Cabinet-elect

PESHAWAR(Report by Fatima Jafar) According to Global times News Agancy Europe,The Annual General Body Meeting of the Dir Officers Welfare Association (DOWA) was held at the Conference Hall of Paraplegic Centre Peshawar, that was attended by a large number of officers and prominent social personalities from Dir districte. The meeting reviewed the Association’s annual performance, featured a colourful Mushaira (poetry recital), conducted elections for the new cabinet and administered the oath to the newly elected office-bearers.The cabinet- elect included President Dr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas, Vice Presidents Engr Qazi Muhammad Naeem, Dr. Abdul Wahid & Sharif Ahmed, General Secretary Dr. Karam Elahi, Joint Secretary Dr. Irfanullah Finance Secretary Engr Dr. Khalid Rahman, Coordination Secretary Engr Dr. Khan Shehzada, Executive Members Dr. Abasin Yousafzai, Dr. Abdul Hameed Jan, Rashid Khan Paindakhel, Engr Aziz Ahmed, Prof Falak Naz, Muhammad Ilyas Hassan, Mian Aziz Ahmed and Dr. Aaqib Javed Earlier the President Dr. Ilyas Syed highlighted the aims and objectives of the Association along with its various welfare activities. He expressed firm resolve that, with the support of generous donors, DOWA will continue its efforts to provide financial assistance to the deprived and downtrodden sections of society, especially orphans, persons with disabilities, widows and needy students.The meeting was informed that over the past several years, the Association has distributed financial aid and essential items to thousands of individuals, facilitated admissions of deserving students into professional educational institutions and provided all kinds of financial and other support to poor patients. Credit for these efforts goes not only to the Association’s members but also to the generous donors who have wholeheartedly supported this noble cause.Later, the Patron-in-Chief of the Association, Dr. Muhibullah Khan, administered the oath of office to the newly elected cabinet. In his address, the renowned ENT specialist of the country, Dr. Muhibullah Khan, thanked all the office-bearers and donors who have selflessly taken up the mission of serving humanity. He expressed hope that the Association will continue to play the same role in serving the people of Dir and contributing to national development.On the occasion, prominent Pashto poets from Dir entertained the audience with their poetry. The Mushaira was presided over by Abasin Yousafzai, while Bakhtzada Danish performed as host. Renowned poet Bulbul-e-Maidan Noor Elahi Taimur presented a poetic tribute to the late former President of the Association, Dr. Shams, which was greatly appreciated by the participants. Other poets included Sajid Afghan, Shafiq Hairan and Muslim Khan Wasal. Later Dr. Muhibullah Khan presented honorary shields to the poets.The meeting concluded with a special prayer by Ustad-ul-Asatiza Dr. Sahib Islam for the progress and prosperity of the country and the nation.
