KARACHI:(Special Representative)According to Global times News Agancy Europe,The U.S. government, through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program, is supporting the launch of the $80 million Sindh School Meals Program with the Government of Sindh. U.S. Consul General Charles Goodman participated in the program launch yesterday in Karachi and emphasized that ensuring children are healthy and ready to learn is foundational to long-term stability and growth.Save the Children Pakistan and the World Food Programme are implementing the program, to deliver daily cooked meals and take-home rations to more than 200,000 Pakistani students in nearly 1,300 primary schools.This program creates market opportunities for American farmers and producers while strengthening U.S.-Pakistan cooperation. By combining U.S.-provided agricultural commodities with locally-sourced fruits and vegetables, the program improves child nutrition and supports local economic development.U.S. support is designed to help Pakistan strengthen its own school feeding systems, reducing long-term dependency on foreign assistance. By working with the Government of Sindh, this program builds local capacity for sustainable, government-led school nutrition programs.
