Prof. Dr. hab. med. Jacek P. Szaflik, MBA, FEBO.This distinction represents the highest recognition of outstanding professional achievements, impeccable ethical conduct, and a long-standing contribution to the protection of fundamental human rights, in particular the right to health, human dignity, and responsible public service.Prof. Jacek P. Szaflik is the Head of the Department and Clinic of Ophthalmology at the Medical University of Warsaw and the Director of the Independent Public Ophthalmic Hospital.
He is also a co-founder of BoyaClinic and an eminent Polish ophthalmologist specializing in ocular microsurgery and the treatment of corneal diseases. He is a professor of medical sciences with extensive clinical and research experience and a former Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Klinika Oczna”.
From 2019, he served as President of the Polish Ophthalmological Society, completing his term of office in this role.Professor Szaflik is a pioneer in Poland in innovative ophthalmic procedures, including lamellar corneal transplantation and the use of femtosecond laser technology in cataract surgery. His scientific work encompasses genetic and cellular therapies as well as advanced technologies in ophthalmology. A recipient of numerous awards for his achievements, he remains actively engaged in scientific development and the training of young specialists.The Gold Medal Civis Mundi Sum and the nomination as IHRC Goodwill Ambassador were personally presented by the Secretary-General of IHRC.
