Integration of Traditional Wisdom and Modern Science is an Effective Solution to Health Challenges, says Prof. Dr. Zabta Khan Shinwari

Islamabad:(Report by Nazish Jabeen)According to Global times News Agancy Europe,Internationally renowned scientist, UNESCO laureate, and Vice Chancellor of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Zabta Khan Shinwari, stated that the sustainable use of medicinal plants is not only an environmental necessity but also essential for public health. Addressing a gathering of global experts, policymakers, and researchers, he described the integration of traditional wisdom with modern scientific research as an effective solution to contemporary health challenges.

He highlighted various aspects of the sustainable use of medicinal plants, including policy development, conservation, and their impact on public health. He emphasized that Pakistan needs to transition from being a raw material exporter to a value-added herbal pharmaceutical hub in order to provide safe, affordable, and effective healthcare solutions.

Prof. Shinwari identified scientific validation, adherence to ethical principles, and economic growth as the key pillars of this approach. He noted that the efficacy of traditional medicines can be validated through nanotechnology and clinical trials, while ensuring patient safety and transparency remains essential.He stressed the importance of collaboration with international organizations and called for the development of a “symbiotic future,” where traditional knowledge and modern science work together for the betterment of human health. He further stated that long-term public health cannot be achieved without conserving biodiversity.Referring to the collaboration between ICCBS, Qarshi, and the Federal Urdu University, he described it as a successful model demonstrating how academia and industry can work together effectively for the public good.

In conclusion, he urged policymakers to take practical steps to bridge the gap between traditional and modern medicine and to promote international cooperation so that Pakistan can play a leading role in sustainable healthcare at the global level.
