A one-day interactive session on medico-legal awareness was organized at District Judiciary Swabi.

Swabi:(Special Representative)According to Global times News Agancy Europe,An interactive session on medico-legal awareness aimed at strengthening the speedy and effective delivery of justice was held at the District Judiciary Swabi.
The session was jointly organized by the District Judiciary Swabi and Bacha Khan Medical Complex in light of the landmark decision of the Honourable Peshawar High Court (PHC) in Asif Ullah vs State Case. The session brought together medico-legal officers, judicial officers, lawyers, prosecutors, medical officers, education department officials, and probation officers on a shared platform for discussion and exchange of views.During the session, District and Sessions Judge Swabi Ashfaq Taj and Head of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Gajju Khan Medical College, Prof. Dr. Masud-uz-Zaman, highlighted key medico-legal issues including legal procedures, preservation of evidence, and post-mortem reporting standards.In his remarks, District and Sessions Judge Swabi Ashfaq Taj stressed the close link between the judiciary and medical departments in medico-legal cases, emphasizing transparent investigation, proper evidence handling, and timely documentation to ensure prompt justice. He also referred to the Peshawar High Court case Asif Ullah vs State as the basis of the initiative.Prof. Dr. Masud-uz-Zaman stated that “justice fails when medical evidence fails” and highlighted the importance of timely documentation and proper investigation, appreciating the initiative and supporting the continuation of such sessions in the future.Medical Director BKMC-MTI Swabi Prof. Dr. Seema Gul called for a structured mechanism for medico-legal case management to reduce the burden on tertiary care hospitals.
