An important meeting of the Prisons Department was held under the chairmanship of Iftikharullah Jan.

In which the IG Prisons, all regional DIGs and prison superintendents from across the province participated.

Peshawar:(Special Correspondent) According to Global Times Media Europe, an important meeting of the Prisons Department was held under the chairmanship of Iftikharullah Jan, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Prisons, in which the Inspector General (IG) Prisons, all regional DIGs and prison superintendents from across the province participated.The meeting reviewed the overall performance of various prisons in the province, security arrangements, facilities provided to prisoners, correctional and welfare programs, vocational training, health and education facilities and ongoing development projects. The IG Prisons and other officers gave a detailed briefing to the Special Assistant on the current situation of the department, achievements and challenges faced.
 On this occasion, Special Assistant Iftikharullah Jan said that transforming prisons into effective institutions of reform and training rather than mere detention centers is among the top priorities of the government. He directed to ensure the welfare of prisoners, promote modern security system, expand the scope of reform activities and further improve the efficiency of prison administration. Special Assistant Iftikharullah Jan directed all regional DIGs and superintendents to ensure discipline, transparency and good administrative affairs in prisons so that opportunities for the reformation, rehabilitation and positive role of prisoners in the society can be further improved. He also assured all possible cooperation for the improvement and development of the Prisons Department on modern lines.
