US continues preparations to create group with Iran, Lebanon to monitor ceasefire.

According to Global times News Agancy Europe,The US will continue to implement the agreements reached at the meetings in Switzerland, including the creation of a joint group with Lebanon and Iran to consolidate the ceasefire in Lebanon and monitor its implementation, reads a statement by the office of Lebanese President Joseph Aoun following a telephone conversation with US Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, The global times Europe media.It is noted that the organizational aspects of the future group's work and the procedures for its formation are currently being worked out.During the conversation, Vance and Rubio reaffirmed US support for the positions of the Lebanese president and government in their efforts to extend the authority of the legitimate state and strengthen national sovereignty throughout the country solely through the military and security forces, as well as to ensure the fulfillment of their commitments in this area.They emphasized the need to further implement the agreements reached in Switzerland.Joseph Aoun thanked the American side for its attention to the situation in Lebanon and its efforts to end the war between Hezbollah and Israel, strengthen state authority, and ensure Lebanon's independence, noting that the state bears sole responsibility for preserving the sovereignty, dignity, and security of its citizens.The fifth round of talks between Israel and Lebanon began today in Washington. The talks will continue until June 25.
