High Level Meeting Between Chairman Pakistan Science Foundation and International Expert in Earth System Analysis from Netherland

ISLAMABAD:(Special Representative)According to Global times News Agancy Europe,Prof. Dr. Mark visited chairman Pakistan Science Foundation to discuss cooperation between Pakistan Science Foundation and counterpart in Netherland. Dr. Mark is an accomplished Prof. in the field of Earth Sciences and has tremendously worked in PAKISTAN and collaboration with Centre of excellence in geology and other collaborating institutions in Pakistan. Chairman PAKISTAN science foundation, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Akmal welcome Dr Mark and briefed him various programs and initiatives of Pakistan Science Foundation in the field of Science and Technology. He also briefed on the functions of Pakistan Museum of Natural History PMNH with special focus on Earth Sciences version of the Museum for future collaboration. Dr Mark is member of the advisory board of Dutch Science Foundation and HED full support for strengthening bilateral collaboration between Pakistan Science Foundation and Dutch foundation. Dr. Akmal suggested to develop omega consortium research project involving various universities and institutions of PAKISTAN with Netherland.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akmal, Chairman, Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), held a productive meeting with Prof. Dr. Mark van der Meijde, Chair in Earth Structure and Dynamics and Head of the Department of Earth System Analysis, Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation.During the meeting, both dignitaries discussed matters of mutual interest, particularly in the fields of Earth sciences, geospatial technologies, climate studies, remote sensing, and scientific research collaboration. The discussion focused on strengthening academic and research linkages, promoting knowledge exchange, and exploring opportunities for joint initiatives between Pakistani scientific institutions and international research organizations.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akmal highlighted the role of Pakistan Science Foundation in promoting scientific research, innovation, and science popularization across Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing emerging environmental and geoscientific challenges.
Prof. Dr. Mark van der Meijde appreciated the efforts of PSF and showed interest in collaboration in PSF, PMNH and PASTIC Programs for advancing science and technology and expressed keen interest in fostering collaborative research projects, capacity-building programs, and academic partnerships in the areas of Earth system analysis and geo-information sciences.Dr. Mirza Habib Ali, Member Science PSF and other dignities were also present in the meeting
Both sides agreed to continue dialogue and explore avenues for future cooperation aimed at enhancing scientific excellence, research capacity, and sustainable development.
