Peshawar:(Special Correspondent) According to Global Times Media Europe, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Food Dr. Muhammad Israr Khan has said that only a healthy citizen can be a useful citizen for his family, province and country. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority is the backbone in providing safe, quality and nutritious food to the people. He said that the availability of nutritious food will not only help in preventing diseases but will also have a positive impact on the financial resources and economy of the province by reducing the burden on hospitals. He expressed these views while addressing the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority and Nutrition International for the promotion of large-scale food fortification in the province. The ceremony was also attended by Secretary Food Department Shah Mehmood, Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority Kashif Iqbal Jilani, Director Administration Aamir Hassan and senior officials of Nutrition International. Dr. Muhammad Israr Khan said that the provincial government under the leadership of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Khan Afridi is taking effective and long-lasting steps to provide safe, quality and nutritious food to the people. He said that measures like food fortification will play an important role in controlling nutritional and micronutrient deficiencies, which will help improve the health of future generations. Dr. Israr said that the Food Department is always ready to cooperate with relevant national and international organizations in every project of public interest and all possible assistance will be provided for the promotion of safe food. At the end of the ceremony, representatives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority and Nutrition International signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The aim of this partnership is to promote large-scale food fortification in the province, ensure the provision of micronutrient-rich, safe, and quality food items to the public, and make joint efforts to eliminate malnutrition more effective.
