OIC Secretary-General Affirms Commitment to Youth Empowerment on OIC Youth Day

Jeddah:(International News Desk)According to Global times News Agancy Europe,On the occasion of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Youth Day, celebrated annually on September 3, His Excellency the Secretary-General of the OIC, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, affirmed the Organization’s commitment to empowering youth and enhancing their role in driving sustainable development and consolidating peace, stability, and prosperity in all member states.In his address on the occasion, he stated: “Young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but also essential partners in building the present and shaping the future. Their talents, creative energies, and capacity for innovation and resilience are a precious asset to our societies.The Secretary-General emphasized that empowering youth requires sustained investment in education, skills development, job creation, and support for entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as creating an enabling environment that allows young people to realize their potential and actively participate in the economic and social development of their countries. He added: “We must equip our youth with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world, particularly in the areas of digital transformation, emerging technologies, innovation, and entrepreneurship.His Excellency commended the efforts of OIC member states and their institutions to promote youth participation, develop young people’s leadership skills, and strengthen cooperation among them. He also called on young people to harness their talents and energies to address the challenges facing their societies and contribute to building safe, peaceful, and resilient communities.The Secretary-General also expressed his solidarity with young people affected by conflict, occupation, displacement, and humanitarian crises, especially in Palestine, emphasizing the need to protect their rights and dignity and ensure their access to education and opportunities that will pave the way for a secure and dignified future. He concluded by saying:The OIC stands with the youth of its member states and calls upon them to be a driving force for positive change, innovation, and sustainable development.
